Although I’m super late on this one, Final Fashion’s Danielle nominated me for the “You Rock Award.” Thanks Danielle! Needless to say, I’m very flattered. Especially since Danielle’s a seasoned pro. As a nominee of the award, I’ll tag my favorite bloggers and list 6 things that make me happy. Here we go…
6 things that make me happy:
1. Blogging – this blogging thing is awesome. I started in September and I can’t even count how many people I’ve met just by starting and promoting Esculon Says to the world. Not only have my jewelry sales flourished, but I’m also having a lot more fun building my business.
2. Savor the Success – where would I be today if it wasn’t for this amazing social network? It was due to STS that I started blogging in the first place. Not to mention everything else I learned from starting my own marketing cafe and joining all the others! I learned how to pitch to the media, how to launch my own PR campaign, how to use Twitter for my business and countless other lessons. If you haven’t joined yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for!
3. My Flip Video Camera – I got this little gadget for Christmas and it is beyond cool! It’s a tiny little thing that fits anywhere, records 60 min. of videos and uploads the videos to my computer with its USB attachment. It can’t get easier than this! I’ll be showcasing some videos on here really soon. Did I mention it came with an underwater case? Perfect for our snorkeling trips.
4. Vacations – Here’s something I couldn’t do without – my vacations. We try to squeeze in three every year even if some are short little roadtrips. I’m a firm believer in living life to the fullest NOW as opposed to saving every penny and doing it when I’m too old to walk.
5. City Island – This is a very special place and definitely one of the hidden gems of the Bronx. Yes, it’s part of the Bronx but looks like a little seaside town on Cape Cod. The tiny island is full of the most delicious seafood restaurants, antique shops, quaint storybook houses and its very own lighthouse. I had a giant plate of snow crab legs at Sammy’s just last night. I highly recommend a visit.
6. Companies that give back – It’s inspiring to find businesses with a conscience. Build-a-Bear is quite a company…their website has an entire page dedicted to community involvement. Another inspiring company is Tees For Change. Their motto is awesome; “you buy a tee, we plant a tree.” Very cool…just some food for thought!

This is so cool, Alex! Congratulations. I love your favorite things list. I’m thinking we should start one on STS. What do you think? And of course, thanks very much for the tag. I’m putting City Island on my list for when I visit New York, which hopefully will be this year!
That’s a great idea Lynn…maybe I’ll introduce it on my next blog post on there. And if you have time, I’d love to do dinner in City Island when you come to NY. Let me know!
