I‘m sure you’ve all been wondering who won the Twiggy necklace giveaway. The lucky winner is Colleen from Brooklyn. And although the drawing was random I do love her response to the giveaway question, which was to tell me about the worst gift ever received.
“The worst gift I ever received was a hideous 1980s from my godmother, back when I was a teenager. She was always trying to change my style and get me to wear what she considered to be the most trendy. That year, she bought me an outfit that conisted of a black turtleneck with snaps around the crotch to make it really tight-looking — kind of like an infant’s onesie, but tighter so it “digs” in a bit. Then, a plaid miniskirt which puffed out sort of like a skirt from the 1950s.
I was thin enough for the look, but was a skinny girl who was extremely flat-chested. The tight turtleneck showed just how non-curvy I was. The skirt was just bizarre and perhaps could lead to a Britney Spears type moment if I wasn’t careful (although I would of course be wearing underwear).”
