Words to Market Your Business By

Hi, it looks like you're new here. If you like what you see, you can sign up for free blog updates right here. Enjoy!

“We live in a world where consumers actively resist marketing. So it’s imperative to stop marketing at people. The idea is to create an environment where consumers will market to each other.”

“You can no longer survive by interrupting strangers with messages they don’t want to hear, about a product they’ve never heard of, using methods that annoy them. Consumers have too little time and too much power to stand for this any longer.”

“Marketing is about spreading ideas, and ideas are all you have left to compete with.”

Thought I would offer some food for thought with these excerpts from “Unleashing the SUPER Ideavirus” and maybe entice you to rethink the way you market your products and services.

Give your customers a reason to trust your message and your bottom line will thank you.

How Chile’s Earthquake May Boost the ebook Industry

What does the publishing industry have to do with the earthquake?
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for the publishing industry, life finds a way to surprise you. It seems unlikely that a natural disaster and political factors can affect an industry so seemingly unrelated, but it’s true.
Chile’s earthquake and the recent Finnish [...]

Are you a genius?

Don’t be so quick to dismiss your abilities.
Genius = Artist = Linchpin = an individual who can walk into chaos and create order, someone who can invent, connect, and make things happen. A Linchpin is someone who isn’t afraid to stand out or to share her gift with the world. And more importantly, it’s someone [...]

Change Perspective

Sometimes a change in perspective can breathe new life into an object. I flipped my jewelry tree on its side for a more artistic look.
It might not hurt to try and approach everything from a different angle.

{ why is Amazon taking a step backwards? }

Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t understand why any company creating new technology decides that a black-and-white product is a good idea. The Amazon Kindle is black-and-white, the Sony Reader is black-and-white and all the other competing readers are black-and-white.
The Kindle 2 now has wifi abilities, which allows you to read blogs, magazines and [...]

Dear Steve Madden, I’ve only worn these shoes ONCE

This not the first time I bought Steve Madden shoes, but it might just be the last. The soles fell apart like cardboard. The problem here is that I’ve grown to expect quality from the Steve Madden brand. But where’s the implicit premium that I paid for? I could probably get better quality shoes from PayLess. The minute a brand stops being consistent, it loses a customer.

I’m blaming Seth Godin for this one!

I’m stuck. During the last few weeks, I’ve logged on to Wordpress almost every day and attempted to write a new post. I have a total of 8 drafts just sitting there, staring back at me and I can’t seem to hit the publish button. I’m so focused on providing valuable content that I’m second [...]

Only in New York…

Only in New York can you find a hair stylist who not only does his thing with a pair of scissors, but can also teach you a thing or two about business. Shaun, co-owner and master stylist at Seagull Hair, has made me a customer for life. I’m happy to say that I’ve NEVER received [...]
